I recieved a BSW from Michigan State University and MSW from the Univeristy of Michigan. I am certified by the State of Michigan Board of Social Work to provide therepeutic services to youth and families on a variety of issues including abuse,trauma, greif/loss, mental health disorders, behavioral management, addiction, depression and other issues. I have experience working with youth and families from a vareity of backrounds, races, and ethnicities. I have primarily worked with at risk adolescent youth and their families. I have experience providing individual counseling sessions with teens, family therapy sessions, running group therapy sessions, developing and implementing treatment plans, working with juvenile sex offenders, and creating a youth media project which provided jobs to at risk innter city youth. I have a Master of Social Work limited license granted by the Michgan Board of Social Work. I have worked with Juvenile Sexual Offenders and their families at the Ingham County Family Court proctoring psychological examinations, facilitating treatment groups, and providing therepeutic services to clients. I have worked with at risk inner city youth in Kalamazoo, MI after being awared a grant to produce a youth media project which educated and employed youth to learn about media production and create a professional documentary on their community. This documentary won awards in the Michigan Youth Media Festival and exposed youth to higher education opportunities. Most recently, I have been working with adjudicated and abuse/neglect youth in residential care. Over the last year, I have provided individual and family counseling, group therapy sessions, strengths and needs assessments, treatment plan development, and engaged in crisis management. As youth and families present with a variety of issues, I have provided counseling on substance abuse, family relationships, problem solving skills, conflict resolution skills,life skills, trauma, PTSD, boundary issues, social skills, STD/HIV education, manipulative behaviors, anger management, and more. I have worked with individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder, PTSD, reactive attachment disorder, mood disorder, adjustment disorder, explosive disorder, chemical dependence, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, and those with problems with frustration tolerance and impulse control to name a few.
