Please Note
|
Online counseling is not appropriate for all
kinds of problems. If you have suicidal thoughts, it's important that you seek help
immediately. You are not alone. If you are located in
the US, call
1-800-784-2433 or 911 and
ask for help. If you are outside the US,
look here
to find the support hotline in your country and area.

My Expert Service
|
|
I am particularly experienced and skilled at helping people resolve their clinically severe depersonalization and derealization (DP/DR). I have published in a peer-reviewed journal on depersonalization and derealization and regularly keep up with the latest research. My counseling services are specifically designed to help you swiftly understand and overcome your DP/DR so that you can get where you want to go and get on with your life. Whether you are struggling to sort through the confusing symptoms of DP/DR, or are experiencing chronic anxiety and panic or depression, my approach aims towards results. I can provide you with an assessment and recommendation for behavioral/emotional challenges, along with direct interventions and plans for behavior modification. I consider myself a multitheoretical psychotherapist with an emphasis on existential psychotherapy. I look at the whole person: mind/body/spirituality. I am an experienced clinician and have worked successfully with Individuals.

Experience & Qualifications
|
|
My academic training includes a M.Sc. in Philosophy and Ethics of Mental Health (with Distinction) from the University of Warwick (2009) and Doctoral level coursework in Psychology at Northcentral University, School of Behavioral and Health Sciences. My work at Warwick drew heavily on philosophy, psychiatry, and psychology. I am a registered member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). My primary scholarly interest is in depersonalization/derealization and I have published in a peer-reviewed journal on the topic. For over a decade I have conducted research concerning a wide variety of topics, involving philosophy of mental disorder, phenomenological psychiatry and psychology, psychopathology, and self and identity. Other areas of my research are behavioural self-regulation, self-awareness and self-consciousness, emerging adulthood (the age period between the age of 18 and late 20s), and spiritual transformation.
