I have worked with people of all ages for 25 years, individuals, couples and families. I am a licensed in Rehabilitation and Mental Health counseling. When pain and physical disability are present, people experience a wide variety of difficulties, ranging from problems performing daily activities and work, to a catastrophic impact on all aspects of functioning. Inability to work, financial hardship, changes in relationships, and loss of avocational activities are some of the difficulties experienced by those who have chronic pain. People may have a loss of pleasure in life, depression, anxiety, fear, social withdrawal, and feelings of helplessness. Despite the challenges, chronic illness does not need to dictate the way you think and you can learn new ways to adapt and experience joy.

Experience & Qualifications

|
I provided counseling outreach while at a community mental health clinic and am knowledgable about all types of mental illness including depression, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.
I served as a Guardian ad litem for the Probate Court system, assessing the competency of persons with dementia and mental health issues.
I worked with older adults and their families and caregivers.
I counseled disabled high school students and helped them transition from a sheltered school environment.
While under a contract with Vocational Rehabilitation, I evaluated students with learning disabilities who were graduating from high school to determine their need for assistive technology in higher education.
At Project Aids I counseled people with HIV/AIDS.
Prior to earning an MA, I worked as a Social Case Worker for Families with Children and with the Work Incentive Program.
