My Expert Service

Dealing with cancer, serious illness, bereavement, pain, or emotional distress as a result of a crisis? I can help. I can work with you to teach and provide relief through relaxation training, emotion regulation, distress and crisis tolerance skills, pain management, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and other research-supported interventions that have been shown to reduce pain and emotional distress.

Experience & Qualifications

I completed a pilot study of group therapy for breast cancer patients as part of my doctoral dissertation and led therapy groups for females with Stage II cancer. I work full-time providing mental health services and have taught nationally on the psychological care of cancer and serious illness. I am trained in crisis, disaster, and bereavement work and have worked in New York City and New Orleans following large-scale disasters. My theoretical orientation is primarily cognitive behavioral therapy. I am trained in and lead Dialectical Behavior Therapy and I am also specially trained in the integration of religious and spiritual issues in treatment. I am currently President of the Southeastern VA Division of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
