Over my 30 years of experience in the mental health field I have worked with several dozen victims and abusers. Regarding "verbal/emotional" abuse: I am sure you are all familiar with that childhood statement "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me." This is SO not true. The damage done to the heart and spirit of a spouse or a child by words of anger, insults, put-downs, denigration, degradation, spoken in tones of rejection, loathing, and even hatred... can cause injuries to the soul that endure for years in adults, but especially in children. Regarding Physical abuse: I have worked with several several hundreds of both victims and abusers as well as witnesses to abuse. Several formats used including: individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, and multi-family therapy as well as formal group therapy teaching classes in "Learning to Live Without Violence" with great success. I help clients coordinate services through "Women In Distress", "Kids in Distress" as well as many social service agencies to help victims escape from domestic violence. I have also played a significant role in Court-referred or Court involved cases serving as an advocate for the victim. Regarding Sexual Abuse: I cannot overstate the need for early intervention and validation for the victim of such crimes. My experience in these matters became the themes for both my Master's and Doctoral Degrees. I am fully licensed as a Psychologist for 20 years. Specializing in a wide variety of mental/emotional/social concerns, anxiety and depressive conditions, loneliness, grief and loss, child development, parenting concerns, marriage and family and step-family issues, domestic violence and many more. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings for over 30 years as well as coordinated a private practice in 5 office locations throughout the local Tri-County area (Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties). I have served as a media consultant (Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinal), Live call-in TV and Radio talk-show host and producer (WLRN), and Industrial/Organizational Psychology Consultant. Additionally, I provide mentoring at all professional levels providing Life Coaching and Career Guidance.
