My Expert Service

For over 20 years, I've provided real, usable advice to help clients navigate through real problems. I do NOT deliver cliches, judgments,one-size fits all solutions or platitudes, but rather useful strategies. Topics include marriage, dating, infidelity, parenting, in-laws,even manner. Drawing on my experiences as a prison director, soap opera writer and senior social worker, I offer advice in a style which is empathetic, humorous -- and with attitude.

Experience & Qualifications

Quirky, no-nonsense, funny, I'm a straight-shooter, who has taken on issues in my books, and advice columns. A clinician, writer, and researcher, I've attempted to blend these skills. MY POINT OF VIEW A “trade” secret about “counseling.” And advice mavens. We don’t know as much as we think we know. Many clients in therapy for years don’t get better. Many, after a single meeting, DO. “Success” is the right insight, given to the ready, at the right time. If we don’t know as much as we think we know, I long ago decided to go with what we do. I see my role as that of an “elder”- a mentor, offering wise, strategic advice. In my counseling, columns, and public appearances, you’ll find no faultless guru. I don’t write that way. I don’t work that way. And it starts with tossing the psychobabble. Simply, I don’t do: 1. “pulpits.” I'm not a preacher or moralizer. Your values are your own. 2. one-size fits all. People aren’t pantyhose. There’s no one right answer for all in our family of man. Each of us is a custom job. 3. one note values. The struggle is often between competing values. 4. “therapy.” Sometimes good advice, beats 20 years of therapy. 5. perfect. Perfection is impossible. Impossible” is doomed. What I do: Try to come up with a useful, not a perfect answer --without preaching, barking, or “selling” the “right” solution. Custom creative strategies help my clients and readers get where they wish to go. And if I can add a little wit and humor, better! I hold a B.A. in experimental psychology, and an M.S. degree from the Columbia University School of Social Work, where I won the first Judith L. Ginsberg Memorial Scholarship, and was a graduate supervisor.

I also currently write advice columns and features on relationships. My advice columns were also syndicated through Tribune Media Services),
I've written over 20 books/calendars about Jewish culture. Prior, I was a writer for the daytime drama, “As the World Turns,” which garnered both Emmy and Writers Guild award nominations. In addition to writing two science fiction novelets for The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Realms of Fantasy, and Fantom (Russian), I've written hundreds of relationship articles for women's magazines and newspapers, such as Woman, First, Women's World, Theater Week, the Star, The New York Times, The Rocky Mountain News Co., among others.

In addition to hosting My advice radio show, “Ask Sadie Live,” I was a regular advice maven on The Karen Grant Show, in Monterey, California, and have appeared on hundreds of other radio and television shows, including Lifetime for Women, Mike & Maty, The Mark Wahlberg Show, The Pat Bullard Show, USA Live, Charles Perez and Bill O'Reilly (Fox).

In 2003, I starred in a relationship-advice pilot for the Discovery Networks.

I've been a graduate level supervisor and have clinically supervised for both Columbia University and the Adelphi School of Social Work. I've also taught at the New York City Correctional Academy. Before turning to writing, I was a senior administrator, as well as clinician for the New York City Department of Correction. I was then appointed Director of Pre-Trial Services in Westchester County, New York, the first women to hold a Directorship in criminal justice in that County, which won an Exemplary Project Award from the Federal government. I was a member of the Curriculum committee, Columbia University; served on the Criminal Justice Committee to the Advisory Council, N.Y.S. Senate; was Vice-President of the State Association of Pre-Trial Service Agencies, and on the Board of the National Association.

sorry. ran out of time. but thank you. some help. hearing about someone else although you never had time to finish. im trying. this is NOT fun. would almost rather have my plaques back. im almost ready to go drown myself in abilify. throw it all away. but cannot. not want to stiffen. then couldnt walk the dogs. they are happier. im trying. only whole. all together now. is harder. and nothing ever shoots me back into the sky. i fixed the split. and it all fell back. to the real. and sometimes i try to re-sever myself. only not got the heart to break. terrified of being snatched back up by doctors. and yet would be easier. to be lost to myself. not have been her too.
