Experience & Qualifications
|
My experience is vast in many areas. For more than 27 years I have worked with individuals and couples who are seeking relief and a measure of peace.
Early on in my career I worked on some of the most painful situations that can arise. Marital abuse, infidelity, self-cutting in young adults, custody issues, unexpected loss of a loved one and more became the base of my career.
Drug abuse became another urgent area of focus for me in the 70's. I saw patients from treatment programs falling back in to the pattern of abuse and I wanted to learned alot more about this pressing problem and how to stem the tide of abuse. For that reason I joined the Staff of a NJ State Methadone Maintenance Clinic as a Drug Counselor and began to gain insight into drug addiction and the deep pain it can cause to all who love the addict and the addict him/herself.
Following this, AIDS had come on the scene. Mysterious, taking the lives of young men one after another. Though I was very frightened of AIDS in the beginning as yet transmission wasn't clear, I felt very called to work with effected population. I worked for four years in Atlantic City with AIDS patients. After I had begun that work, I was asked to work with the elderly and chronically ill patients. It was during this period in my career that many times, I faced the death of my clients, helped them get the business of dying behind them and spent many hours in hospital rooms. This where I learned about loss, grief death and dying
As Sex Therapist I was introduced into the world of gender confusion. I worked closely with a trans-sexual who had gone for Sexual Re-Assignment Surgery. A handsome wholesome outdoors man who wanted to become a woman. We worked through many painful and awkward post surgery issues. I have also worked often with transvestites (cross-dressers) and their marriages.
These experiences and more have given me a deep awareness of the suffering we as humans go through in a lifetime.
And I learned that going through all this alone is a painful plight. No problem is too big or too small and I will stay with you for as long as you want. That alone will make things somewhat easier.
CONFIDENTIALITY I am bound by law to keep every thing we have discussed Confidential. The only exceptions to this are if I fear you are at risk to yourself or another or if there is abuse of a child or an elderly person. I think we all know there are risks using the Internet for sensitive information. Therefore I suggest you use an alias to protect your anonymity.

She was and is an inspiration. She was there when needed and her being there has helped me overcome some troubles and sadness, which we were able to transform in something even more beautiful, just by talking about it all. thank you very much, nancy :)
