Assertiveness is the vehicle you use to communicate with the outside world. Being assertive ensures that you won't be taken advantage of. To be successful you need to have a good self esteem while simultaneously valuing others as much as you do yourself, and show respect for their beliefs.

Experience & Qualifications

I worked in social services during which time I served in a number of different capacities. I helped single parent families on Assistance find jobs, and cope with personal issues that presented barriers to employment. While on a Mobile
Treatment Team (a mobile hospital unit in the community) I treated people with severe psychiatric conditions. I have experience with all types of Mental Illness and personality disorders.
I have been assigned to frail homebound elders and helped them and their families cope with dementia, illness, nursing home placements, and strained family relationships.
I have also worked as a Guardian Ad Litem for the court system and evaluated wards to make recommendations to the judge on competency. I have done outreach for people with AIDS, and helped severely disabled young adults transition to supported employment from a sheltered school environment where most had been for 18 years.
