My Expert Service

In over 20 years of practice as a therapist I have been amazed at how depression, guilt and anxiety are fueled by our own internalized image of who we are, what we deserve, and what we can expect. Learn how to quit limiting yourself with negative self views. Let me help you discover the core beliefs that have taken up residence in your mind, the critical self talk and negative self image that are hypnotizing you into indecision, fear of failure, avoidance of true intimacy and settling for what life gives you rather than making life happen the way you want it. I have worked extensively with individuals struggling with poor self concept whether it is related to present day issues or to past histories of maltreatment/misfortune. Remember, the first and most important relationship that you need to work on is the relationship with yourself! Let me help.

Experience & Qualifications

Self esteem issues seem to reverberate at the core of many problems we encounter in the mental health field. Seeing the growth and freedom that comes from helping people undo the chains of negative self regard and watching people blossom and move forward in life has been one of the most rewarding and exciting parts of my career. For many years I was an on staff therapist at a juvenile facility where we worked extensively on assisting youth to create positive self esteem to fortify them against the lure of gangs, drugs, and violence which gives a false sense of self esteem. For years I worked doing hospital emergency room assessments of individuals in behavioral crisis, people who were suicidal and whose self esteem was so low, whose self confidence was so defeated, that they did not even want to continue living. Because I am certified in the use of EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) I frequently work with individuals who are victims of abuse or trauma, both of which negatively impact self concept and self esteem. For the past 4 years I have the opportunity to go into nursing homes to help people with self esteem issues that are related to aging, adapting to increasing limitations, and chronic medical issues. I have done a a good deal of research and professional application in the areas of positive psychology, affirmations and life coaching; all of which emphasis the need to improve self esteem, build confidence, affirm one's uniqueness, and confidently expect the good things we deserve.
