My Expert Service

Sometimes people find themselves involved in relationships that are not healthy - even abusive. We often second-guess ourselves or, worse, blame ourselves when trying to assess our relationships. Do you have questions about your relationship? Are you wondering if it is abusive or if you're just experiencing the normal, yet sometimes irritating/upsetting differences that all couples face? Do you want someone to talk to in confidence to bounce your ideas off of, ask your questions to or just lean on? That's what I'm here for. I want to help you reach inside to find your inner voice - you already have answers...let me help you gain your power so that you can trust that voice and move into a healthy, joyful and safe life!

Experience & Qualifications

Began my work in a residential facility helping young people with mental illnesses progress from hospital to independence. From there, several years were spent helping people with traumatic brain injuries in a rehabilitation clinic in Texas. The focus there was educational, but as a member of an interdisciplinary team, I dealt with a great dealt with a lot of adjustment and relationship issues since people often change after brain injuries and thus affecting their closest relationships. After moving to Washington state, I completed the requirements to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor by working for one of the largest Mental Health agencies in Washington. As a member of a specialized team who's clients were all Deaf or related to someone who was Deaf, I dealt with a myriad of issues - from chronic mental illness (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, etc). My specialty, however, was trauma, grief and loss. My caseload mostly consisted of people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dissociative Disorders and Depression and abusive relationship issues. Currently, I also provide psychoecducational counseling for families who have children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. I have a Cognitive/Behavioral orientation and I always strive to encourage my clients to challenge old thoughts and adopt more effective coping skills by providing a safe place to discuss pains and practice new skills. As a matter of personal experience, I've also dealt with many grief issues myself and therefore have a great capacity to relate to others who are hurting. You'll never hear "get over it" from me!
