My Expert Service

I approach counseling in a personal yet up-front style. I use a solution-focused integrated approach of evidenced-based techniques shaped by a humanistic view of mankind to help people succeed in life, by their own definiton. I work to help people by increasing their self-awareness and empowering them to use their strengths in pursuing each of OUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE. Relationships and marriages are the blending of two unique personalities that need to have their own separate beginnings and endings to result in the healthy coming together that forms the joint entity called the "couple". When two people are individually healthy and satisfied with themselves, they can bring that experience to better enrich the couple as a whole. But being a couple does not mean losing one's own identity. When people understand this concept, they learn to set healthy boundaries between themselves as individuals and their perceptions of themselves as a couple. That is what sustains the long-term satisfaction of the relationship without anyone feeling lost, smoothered, controlled, or manipulated. I counsel and teach couples strategies to communicate their feelings to one another and help them to continue to grow as individuals while building lives together as couples and families. An individual must strive to be an emotionally healthy human-being to bring that to the marriage and strengthen it so that the marriage can be the core foundation to the family.

Experience & Qualifications

I have 25 years experience working in a variety of settings including as an In-Home Family Therapist with children, adolescents, and adults; including At-Risk teenagers as both an Educator and a Counselor. This has been my most satisfying relationship with clients as the in-home enviroment allows the professional to get a true and full picture of the individual and family dynamics in order to better serve the family system. My experience ranges from the school setting to residential care, and in-patient behavioral health hospitalization. I also have experience as a Non-Profit Clinical Program Manager and Community Services Agency Clinical Supervisor. I am currently the sole-entrepreneur of my own clinical private practice in North Carolina. I am an objective, trained, yet compassionate listener who believes that whatever matters to you is worth discussing. I can be the vehicle to your finding your own solutions to whatever stumbling blocks are in the way of finding your serenity and the actualization of your aspirations for yourself. Sometimes we need to get out of our own way to find it.
