Sam Saboura has made his mark as a top stylist and as television’s original makeover authority. He believes that style should be approachable, unintimidating, and easy to understand—as much for the real person as for the high-profile celebrity.
Saboura admits to embarking on his quest for good style around the age of eight, experimenting with makeovers on anyone who’d stand still long enough. He launched his professional career as the personal shopper at the famed Fred Segal, LA’s most exclusive specialty store. For several years, he remained Hollywood’s best-kept secret, dressing many of the world’s most visible stars—including Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston, and Brad Pitt—who came to rely on his extraordinary eye and impeccable sense of style.
In 2003, Saboura joined the cast of ABC’s Extreme Makeover. As the breakout star and style host of this international hit series, he led an elite team of professionals who transformed the looks—and lives—of individuals throughout the country. With his warm personality and tough love approach to self-improvement, Saboura quickly established himself as one of television’s leading style experts, endearing him to millions of fans worldwide. Extreme Makeover remains an International television sensation, airing in over 100 countries and daily on the Style Network.
Saboura frequently brings his distinctive approach and expansive knowledge of fashion to the red carpet during award-show season. His charismatic and intelligent fashion commentary has entertained and educated audiences for the past 6 years during The Oscars, The Emmys, The Golden Globes, The SAG Awards, The Grammys, The American Music Awards and on E! News Daily. He has also appeared as a style contributor and expert on Rachael Ray, Good Morning America, The Tyra Banks Show, EXTRA, CW Now, Ultimate Style, The Fashion Team, BRAVO, E! Entertainment, Style Network, TV Guide Network, MSNBC and CNN.
In addition to his role as Contributing Fashion Editor for numerous magazine, Saboura’s practical style tips and expert advice regularly appear online and in national publications, including Us Weekly, People, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, Real Simple, Redbook, First for Women, Life Magazine, Woman’s World, TV Guide, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Boston Globe, the New York Post and The New York Times.
In 2005, Clarkson Potter, the lifestyle imprint of Random House, published his best-selling book, Sam Saboura’s Real Style: Style Secrets for Real Women with Real Bodies, which has recently been translated into Chinese and Russian. A companion workbook, My Real Style: A Makeover Journal, was released in July 2006. Filled with wardrobe-building advice and information on how to shop like a pro, it shows readers how to create a personal portfolio of style and inspiration.
“I’m on a mission to help real people feel good about themselves when they get dressed every day…to show them that this whole “style thing” isn’t so hard after all,” says Saboura. “With a bit of information and a nudge in the right direction, anyone can unlock their own style potential and look fabulous.”
Saboura can be seen on TLC’s new series, Real Simple. Real Life. As the resident style expert, he helps everyday women simplify their style with practical tips and advice. Saboura is currently at work on a new book, and is in the midst of creating and producing his own style show. He remains in high demand as a personal stylist for celebrities in the film, television, and music industries, and works extensively as a freelance wardrobe designer and consultant. Saboura is thrilled to announce the launch of his first womenswear collection, STYLED by Sam Saboura, which will premiere this October exclusively on HSN.
