Vedic astrology is a ancient spiritual science based on astronomy.The moment of the start constellations and planets have a direct bearing and influence on human destiny or for that matter destiny of any living being.
For those of you who are not conversant with this as per ancient vedic scriptures which go back 5000 years ago human destiny directly depends on the movement of these planets and star constellations in the solar system.
Vedic astrology is based on the movement of the moon unlike western astrology which is based on the movement of the sun.The signs in vedic astrology are therefore moon signs and those of western astrology are sun signs.
In vedic astrology the time and place of birth are very important for the calculation of the ascendant which involves the incorporation of the lattitude and longitude for calculation of a event that occurs.This event may be birth,death or any event which has to be analysed as per vedic astrology norms.The ascendant in vedic astrology is therefore the sign rising at the eastern horizon at the time of birth or any given event.The ascendant is called as the first house which normally describes the personality of the individual.
This is calculated based on the hindu calander or better known as panchaang.There are 12 houses including the ascendant which determine various aspects of human life.All the planets in vedic astrology are considered to travel in a angular motion and the distance traversed by them is therefore considered in terms of angular distance with a angular velocity.
In vedic astrology simlar to western astrology there are 12 signs but they are all moon signs as the sign of a person in vedic astrology is determined by where the moon is placed in the chart at the time of any event such as birth.Besides this in Vedic astrology there are 27 star contellations or nakshatras in which every sign has 2 1/4 nakshatra part covered over a angular distance of 30 degrees.This means the 12 signs can be divided in a circle of 360 degrees for the purposes of calculation.If anyone wants more information on this subject they are most welcome to contact me.
