My Expert Service
|
|
I consider myself a generalist within the field of philosophy. Because my teaching experience has been so diverse, and because I have taught at very distinct institutions during my ten years of teaching, I can state with confidence that I can teach nearly anything in the field.
Depending on the needs of the student, my focus can be historical or thematic. I have taught students using both approaches, and I find it best to cater the approach to the specific needs of the student.

Experience & Qualifications
|
|
10 years of teaching experience with 8 years in the online setting. Extensive work teaching reading, writing, and argumentation. I have taught over 120 courses and in all three formats: seated, hybrid, and online.
The following is an abridged list of courses taught:
Introduction to Philosophy
Introduction to Ethics
Knowledge and Reality
Ancient Philosophy
Modern Philosophy
Information Ethics
Professional Ethics
Medical Ethics
Existentialism
Philosophy of Religion
Logic
Critical Thinking
Political Philosophy
Approximately 15 of these courses have been taught in the online setting, and I have therefore developed quite a bit of refined experience in the delivery of complex academic material. I've worked with all of the major course management systems in use over the last ten years: WebCT, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Angel, and PageOut.
I've also delivered content via AIM and Skype interactions. The key in the delivery of logic or philosophy content (whether online or offline) is a transparent structure with crisp writing. Transparency and clarity thus could be said to be the two fundamental values of my philosophy of online education.
