I attended a junior college for dental assisting graduating in 1984, then I worked part time with the Department of State internationally where I obtained a secuirty clearance, as a spouse, in various areas. I have worked in and out of dentistry since 1984. I was accepted into dental hygiene school in 2001, a three year degree program. I passed my National board exam in the mid 80's and my state board exam with my Medical College of Virginia with a 100%. I have worked in prosthodontics, periodontics, and endodontics; and currently with general practice. I am passionate about the eradication of periodontal disease by educating my patients regarding the disease process and it coloration with heart disease; how to control it by improved home care, and the importance of needed scaling and root planning treatment, frequent office visits, periodontal maintenance recares, etc. I keep to date the yearly requirement of fifteen continuing education credits. Also, I am a member of my organization, ADHA (American Dental Hygiene Association), and my local component. In addition, I have volunteered for ARC, (American Retarded Citizens) and the Moss Free Clinic for indigent populations in our area. I have practiced with my husband, a general dentist for four years where, I developed our dental hygiene department and periodontal treatment protocol.
