As a poet, I have one book to my credit. M|Y compilation of Urdu poetry can be translated as 'At the edge of the wilderness of thought', published in Lahore, in 2004. The book won the P.E.N. Pakistan Centre best 'First Book' Award in poetry for the years 2004 and 2005.
I am a widely acclaimed poet, both locally and regionally. The renowned poet, the late Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, commenting on my work said: “Ambreen writes in both the forms of Urdu poetry, i.e. Nazm and Ghazal. She keeps in view the grand tradition of the Urdu ghazal while writing her Ghazals, and when writing Nazms, she keeps in mind the vision and perception of the New Era. I believe that the future of her creative endeavours is promising.”

These widely circulated magazines and newspapers have a huge readership nationwide. Most of them are circulated in India and Middle Eastern countries as well.
The themes of my poetry include women’s consciousness, personal experiences as a woman in Pakistani society, patriotism and existentialism.
The second compilation of my Urdu poetry called and a compilation of English poetry are in publication.
As an author I have one book to my credit. In the year 2005, my research on Feminism and Modern women poets of Urdu was published as ‘Feminism in modern Urdu poetesses’, in 2005, by West Pakistan Urdu Academy. This research work looks at the impact of the Western Movement of Feminism on the poetry of women in Urdu language. It includes several women poets from the year 1857 to 2000.
I categorized the Urdu poetesses as per the categories of Feminists and traced out the forms of women’s consciousness, the notion of sisterhood, and the feminist methodology of consciousness-raising in the poetry of women poets. Some of the names included in the study are, Ada Jafferi, Shabnam Shakeel, Zehra Nigah, Parveen Fana Syed, Fehmida Riaz, Kishwar Naheed, Mansoorah Ahmad, Yasmeen Hameed, Bushra Ijaz and Noshi Gillani.
The book is included as part of the syllabus for Masters in Gender Studies and also MS in Women Studies at two major Universities of Pakistan.
I am currently doing Ph D in Gender Studies. I have an MA in Philosophy and did my Bachelors in Philosophy and English Literature.
