I've designed, coded, and implemented websites for both casual and professional users for almost a decade now.
All of them were created by scratch using my own dirty little paws, and almost every single one of them are W3C standards compliant. That's right. HTML 4.01 and CSS 1 specific coding. As an added bonus, they were also XHTML oriented right out of the box. Also, almost all of them were coded using notepad, a very small program that allows complete and total control over a website. Which means coding that's so simple, it's almost poetry. Or haiku if you do it right.
Not only does proper site coding allow for greater accessibility for users, another benefit is accessibility for the webmaster. When I code a site, I mark it up in a such a way that the design and the content are two totally animals. Changes to the design of the entire site can be made quickly and easily just by changing one file. Changes to the site content can be handled by someone with almost no experience at all, except for the ability to use a keyboard. Another good benefit from a well coded site? Fast download times and smaller data needs on the server. Users don't have to wait for the site to load, and less phone calls to tech support.
Also, I can redesign pre-existing websites so they are much more optimized. We're talking 70% image optimizing, and 60% code optimizing. That means less bandwidth cost, less technical problems, and screamingly fast load-times.
From the very beginning I always felt that the internet could only reach its fullest potential if one coded sites that were accessible to absolutely everyone, no matter the browser agent, the platform, or the user's handicaps. No one should be left out. It's a philosophy I've always embraced. Even to this day. I also like to make sites correctly the first time, so I can walk away from it without ever having to come back to make changes.
...and yes, I'm available for hire, both for long term contracts and for short term projects.
Or, if you need a quick bit of advice on a project you're working on, not only can I help you out, but I can do it in such a way you'll learn a little something in the process.
A big bonus is I can do all of this without freaking you out with complex internet jargon. I like to keep things neat and simple, and that'll help *you* out in the long run.
