Currently maintain a private practice treating performance horses in Southern Vermont. Recent past experience (1987-2007)includes twenty years as a private veterinary surgeon on the Southern California Thoroughbred racing circuit, treating numerous and outstanding thoroughbred stakes winners. Performed arthroscopic, abdominal, and upper respiratory tract surgeries implementing state of the art techniques and instrumentation;most recently exploring the use of fluoroscopy for orthopedic procedures. Practiced acute care of the critically injured thoroughbred racehorse employing the newest anaesthetic regimens. Interpreted, on a daily basis, diagnostic information gained by ultrasound, radiology, and nuclear scintigrophy. Worked for, among many, two preeminent trainers on the Southern California Racing circuit (D. Wayne Lukas and Charles Whittingham) Additional trainers included Eddie Gregson, Bill Shoemaker, and John Russell. Cared for over 350 horses and worked for over 20 trainers on a daily basis. Provided for students from veterinary colleges and visiting veterinarians an informal venue in which they could observe the latest racetrack practice. Managed the complexities of equine international import and export.
