Working in the fields of education and translation for more than 35 years provided me with the expertise and insight that made my life-long career enjoyable, colorful and successful.
Teaching, in my opinion, is not just giving or passing information to your students. A professional teacher or educator works hard so that his students always get something more along with what they learn - something that helps them turn into successful, open-minded and tolerant young men and women who can smoothly blend into the world of today.
Translation also has something more than "translation" to offer. A good translation, as I perceive it, is the process of "creating" an honest and professional copy / version of a document that should be viewed as "a welcome addition" to the targeted language. It reflects and retains the essence of the source or translated material.
Interpreting should be carried out in no less professionalism and honesty.
Being a father of four successful "kids" myself, helped me enjoy my professional life, and added the fatherly touch to my career as an educator. As a matter of fact, I've always thought of my students and my trainees as my kids; no more, no less. They really are.
