I have extensive organizational experience in all phases of construction and small business development from startup to multi- million dollars in sales volume.
I am well versed in the creation of proper controls and procedures to eliminate pilferage and waste in any size company, using inventory, cost controls and variance reporting to keep a company within their preplanned profit pattern.
My computer networking systems connect remote offices and other locations to the main accounting office via the Internet using a Wide Area Network (WAN) providing up to the minute Profit, Loss, Variance, Inventory and Sales reporting information in real time.
I am proficient in accounting software packages as Timberline, QuickBooks, Great Plains, MAS 90, Peachtree and Peachtree 2000 as well as Excel and Microsoft Word. I am experienced in the methods and procedures of data conversion and migration. .
A properly setup accounting package with sales input at the point of sale, purchases entered at the point of purchase, etc., can often allow a company to expand without the expense of additional office personnel. The computerized accounting system then acts as the accountant or bookkeeper. If the data is properly input, there is often no need of a day-to-day bookkeeper, as the system will track your profit, sales, taxes and liabilities.
My philosophy is simple. The person knowing the most about a given transaction should be trained to properly input that data into the system i.e., sales, purchasing and receiving. Most accounting packages allow for the import of time to Payroll from an electronic time clock.
Practical Accounting Systems provide financial information and variance reports to Management in real time, without excuses. Information that is vital for Management to make proper decisions. The “books” become an asset rather than a liability of misinformation.
From a practical standpoint, I understand that the business of business requires that I comprehend more than numbers; I must also see the big picture, the total project and the expected results.
Anyone who keeps a set of books knows what it costs to do business, but if they do not know what it should cost, how to bring it within the profit pattern, how to budget, then any degree of success is pure luck.

2000 to 2001 Turn Around Consultant, Catering Unlimited, a hotel restaurant, lounge and on
premise catering service. I took this company from an $80,000 year to date loss to a small profit in
less than three months by designing and installing a system of policies, procedures and
management controls as well as an extensive promotional effort to overcome their reputation.
1998 to 2000 Business Analyst, Consultant for George S. May, International and private practice
specializing in restaurant, construction and inventory management. Attended management seminars
that provided instruction in the concept of designing and installing policies and procedures around
various accounting systems, QuickBooks, Peachtree, etc to eliminate double and triple posting of
the same item, thereby creating a more efficient accounting department.

I helped this company grow from its inception to $20MM in annual sales.
Built highways, dams and lakes. Numerous construction projects for the United States Army Corps of Engineers and other State and Federal Agencies provided experience in contract estimating, contract management, job costing, change order negotiation and claims resolution.. As the company grew, we converted accounting formats from Quicken to QuickBooks for DOS to QuickBooks Pro for Windows and finally to Timberline Gold.
