I offer professional proofreading and copyediting in English. I meticulously check your document or website for spelling, punctuation, capitalization, hyphenation, grammar and word usage, stylistic consistency, formatting, and mechanical or typographical errors. I colour-code the corrections in MS Word so that you can easily the changes made, and I will also provide you with a clean copy of the edited document. Your personal style and tone will be preserved, and so will your document's organization; I do not do substantive editing or rewriting, but will alert you before proceeding if your document requires this.
My standard working tools include the Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition), the MLA Style Manual, and the APA Publication Manual, along with Canadian, American, and British dictionaries. I can also follow your own style sheet, or copyedit according to generally accepted standards that are most appropriate for your document.

Experience & Qualifications

I've worked on a wide variety of documents, from publicity brochures, to websites, to academic papers and dissertations. I have a strong academic background in the humanities, with a Ph.D. in musicology, and extensive experience with current publication standards and style requirements. Some of the more specialized subject areas I'm familiar with include medieval music history, music theory, acoustics, and piano-related topics such as tuning and piano building. I also teach piano and am familiar with a wide range of music education materials.
