My Expert Service

With more than two decades of experience in both for-profit and nonprofit public relations, marketing, and law, Laura specializes in public relations writing, marketing collateral, sales tool development, legal contracts, and formal business writing for small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and international corporations. Laura is the former Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing at Ricoh Silicon Valley (a division of Ricoh Company Ltd. of Japan), where she managed an in-house and outsourced team of writers, editors, and marketing specialists. At Ricoh, Laura and her team were responsible for web content, product brochures, data sheets, e-blasts, mailers, sales scripts, customer success stories, and ad campaigns. Laura was also directly responsible for writing press releases, and “pitching stories” to international media and analysts in the high tech, healthcare, government, and insurance and financial sectors. Prior to Ricoh, Laura had a brief stint with agency-side marketing communications at Neale-May & Partners, where she developed the launch kit for the apartment portal website Rentals.com (subsequently acquired by Primedia), including corporate backgrounders, executive bios, market/industry fact sheet, and the website launch release. Earlier in her career, Laura served as Director of Public Relations and Outreach for the national Glaucoma Research Foundation (GRF), where she led a team that was responsible for a national health education campaign to save sight and eradicate disease. She also wrote nationally published public policy positions statements, led a nationwide advertising campaign, and edited Gleams, a quarterly newsletter with a distribution of over 50,000 readers. In addition to Gleams, Laura’s editorial experience includes writing and editing the 9th Edition of the nationally distributed Understanding and Living with Glaucoma (1999), editing The Arc Hamilton County newsletter (1994-1998), and editorial support for the legal textbook Health Care Law and Policy: Readings, Notes and Questions (Havighurst, CH, Foundation Press, 1st Edition, 1988). Laura is also the published author of Informed Consent, Sexuality and Development Disabilities: Strategies for Professional Decisionmaking, ARC-Milwaukee ©1996). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Boston University, and a Juris Doctor (law) degree from Duke University School of Law, one of the “Top Ten” law schools in the United States.
