My Expert Service

I have worked with people of all ages, individuals, couples and families for 20 years post license. I help people develop understanding of issues through insight oriented therapy. Often we avoid confronting difficult thoughts or feelings and instead we let them express themselves in destructive or dysfunctional ways. Effective counseling provides the support we need to face our fears. Many of our difficulties involve interpersonal communication. We struggle to identify what is truly important, to ourselves and to those with whom we are involved. We seek to understand the difference between needs and wants, giving and taking, and to know when we demand too much, or when too much is asked of us. Successful sharing is one of the joys of life and working to this end is well worth the effort.

Experience & Qualifications

I provided counseling outreach while at a community mental health clinic and am knowledgable about all types of mental illness including depression, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. I served as a Guardian ad litem for the Probate Court system, assessing the competency of persons with dementia and mental health issues. I worked with older adults and their families and caregivers. I counseled disabled high school students and helped them transition from a sheltered school environment. While under a contract with Vocational Rehabilitation, I evaluated students with learning disabilities who were graduating from high school to determine their need for assistive technology in higher education. At Project Aids I counseled people with HIV/AIDS. Prior to earning an MA, I worked as a Social Case Worker for Families with Children and with the Work Incentive Program.

So glad to have seen you're online! I think I spaecd away years ago and never apologized for making you feel somewhat guilty. Either way, nothing you did was wrong! So, thank you Lynn! Philippa.
