Mad and Spectral - is a producer-duo consisting of Ashot Babayan and Garry Mkrtchyan (also known as Salt Sweet, Fabien Kamb, Krummstoff, Warm 8, Khorna).
In 1998, being among the few pioneers of the Armenian electronic music underground, the two - still strangers at that point, started producing music separately: Ashot was a co-founder and member of the pioneer electronica project X-PHOBOS, while Garry dropped beats under his alias of Spectrum. Ashot and Garry met during a radio-show in 1999, and soon became not only musical collaborators, but also good friends. In the spring of 2006, musicians Garry Spectrum and Mad Dee Jay launched their long-awaited producer-duo – Mad and Spectral.
Their production development activity can be divided into two main periods: during the first one, Mad and Spectral were concentrated strictly on house music, starting with such tracks as "Beautiful Dayz Of Our Life", "Pop-Porn", "Funk Above", "Sex Me Slow" and "Tomorrow". By the end of December 2006, Mad and Spectral slowly started to fuse their sound with deep house, tech and progressive. The process went further till the middle of the next year, when finally, the duo's signature sound was shaped and became recognizable in any type of production - from house to progressive, from deep house to deep tech and minimal. Tunes by Mad and Spectral are the often guests at the internationally respected radio-shows, podcasts, DJ-mixes and gained massive respect and support in Europe, Russia and US.
In the middle of 2007 Mad and Spectral also stared to work under the alias of Salt Sweet. This was made in order to concentrate on their deep tech and tech-house-orientated material and represent it under another moniker. From time to time Ashot and Garry also produce uner their alias of Warm 8 - a project which is aimed at IDM, ambient and trip-hop production (mostly released through their own tiny digital label Symetrique Emotions Records). Mad and Spectral is also actively involved in the duo's members' solo-projects, which are mostly concentrated on deep tech and tech house production, where Garry produces under the alias of Fabien Kamb and Ashot drops beats as Krummstoff.
By the end of 2008 Mad and Spectral launched their own digital indie record label - Low Flow Records.
