My Expert Service

Welcome to my virtual office. I am glad to have the opportunity to provide career counseling and consultation online. My experience is diverse and includes, child, adolescent, adult and career counseling. in our chosen careers, it is often the case that we spend very little time hand-selecting a career that is the right fit. To me, it is important to find a fulfilling career, one that is more than just a job. I am very interested in helping people of all ages find that perfect fit. I offer career counseling sessions including the needed assessments. The assessments are determined based on individual need. However, this usually consists of a personality test and an interest inventory. All of the assessments I provide are administered online at anytime the client chooses to take the tests. The scoring occurs rather quickly online as well, therefore there is very little wasted time waiting for test results to arrive in the mail.

Experience & Qualifications

Dr. Marlo is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider with over 10 years experience. providing counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have worked as a school counselor and in private practice. I have given presentations at national meetings, and I have a special interest in helping young adults struggling to find the right career. I am a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Service Provider, National Certified School Counselor. ONLINE COUNSELING INFORMED CONSENT ~ There are potential risks and benefits to online counseling, as with any other counseling modality. Misunderstandings are possible with text-based modalities such as live chat and email (since nonverbal cues are relatively lacking). Services using asynchronous (that is, not in "real time") communication are hampered by turnaround time. As a client, you may not receive a response to an email for several days, depending upon the counselor's schedule and availability. The counselor has a right to his or her privacy and may wish to restrict the use of any copies or recordings the client makes of their communications. The client should be informed of the potential benefits of receiving mental health services online. These potential benefits include both the circumstances in which the counselor considers online mental health services appropriate and the possible advantages of providing those services online. For example, the potential benefits of email may include: (1) being able to send and receive messages at any time of day or night; (2) never having to leave messages with intermediaries; (3) avoiding not only intermediaries, but also voice mail and "telephone tag"; (4) being able to take as long as one wants to compose, and having the opportunity to reflect upon, one's messages; (5) automatically having a record of communications to refer to later; and (6) feeling less inhibited than in person. Potential risks The client should be informed of the potential risks of receiving mental health services online. For example, the potential risks of email may include (1) messages not being received and (2) confidentiality being breached. Emails could fail to be received if they are sent to the wrong address (which might also breach confidentiality) or if they just are not noticed by the counselor. Confidentiality could also be breached in transit by hackers. Extra safeguards should be considered when the computer is shared by family members since they may be able to access your private information.
