My Expert Service

I was forced to diagnose myself with porphyria, a rare hematologic disorder, in my first year of med school, when the doctors I trusted were at their wits end. My fiercest asset is my ability recall everything that I read, and my wish to give those who are sick the best options and proper care. At one point in everyone's life, they will have a medical crisis which is not easily diagnosed. Perhaps it is a cancer, or a mood disorder, or an endocrine problem, or a poorly understood syndrom such as Chronic Fatigue. Depersonalizaton? Temporal lobe epilepsy? Kleinfelter's? Perhaps it is a worker who feels sick but cannot prove it. It is for these people that I offer my services. I cannot always offer solutions - but what I bring to the table is knowledge and a willingness to find them.

Experience & Qualifications

Paper published by Western European Consortium : PTSD History and Etiology of a Diagnosis

My most rewarding personal experience has been in finding treatment options for a priest recently diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a rare treatment resistant brain tumor. I enrolled him in a clinical trial at the Cleveland Clinic when the local hospital gave him 2 months to live and had him started him on Sulfasalizine, an experimental new use of a Crohn's disease drug. His tumor has shrunk, and he is well beyond 2 months.

I also do research regarding a rare psychiatric disorder related to Temporal Lobe Epilespy called Depersonalization using PET and SPECT nuclear imaging.
