Experience & Qualifications

I have done some research in applied mathematics, mostly related to partial differential equations, such as water wave theory, scattering theory, reaction-diffusion systems in atmospheric chemistry and population biology, numerical treatment of PDEs. I taught college mathematics and have developed a new approach to calculus that treats differentiation and integration (see my talk slides for a brief summary) without using limits. Some people find this approach to be more understandable than the standard one. I have been using this method to teach calculus to high school students at MIT undes ESP (see
ESP web site for details) since 1999.
