Suffered from alopecia for 35 years. Have been wearing wigs and false eyelashes that long. This is something I have wanted to explain to everyone for years!
A long, long time ago at the age of 16, my hair started falling out, devastating, right? It was, believe me! The worst thing was that it continued to fall out! My mother took me to some kind of clinic; they were all confused and prescribed a medication that they said would probably make me gain weight, not a good thing for a teenager who already had a weight problem.
The medical term for this condition is Alopecia Areata. I have never known another person with this problem nor has it ever come up in any member of my family. I know that it is considered a disability, but I just accepted it. I have never pursued any kind of treatment because there is no cure, is there?
Later when I had 2 girls of my own I wanted to set a good example for them, so I never really let this problem slow me down (what a relief it was when they were both born with great full heads of hair!)
Writing all this down has me just as puzzled as you are, I’m sure!
