My main focus is growing food gardens. I would love to share my accumulated knowledge of varieties, timing, soil building tips, etc. for Northern areas.
I can help you get the most from you property, whether you are new to the area and have just started to think about your lot, or are an experienced gardener who wants to upgrade and expand. From planning and site analysis to plant and weed identification, variety recommendations, layout, irrigation, etc. I can help your property both look its best and produce some good eats.
I have experience in pruning fruit trees and berry bushes. I can also advise about thinning and fire-proofing your property.
I have experience designing and building raised beds and can help with your project.
I also have experience in many food preservation techniques.

Experience & Qualifications

I am a third generation retired Montana wheat farmer who has been growing large vegetable gardens my whole life in very challenging conditions.
I also started and ran a small certified organic farm in the Helena Valley, and raised medicinal herbs and organic vegetables
Since retiring I have been on the steering committee of the Growing Community Project, which is actively developing community gardens in Helena, where I have been involved in designing and construction of raised beds, and have taught gardening classes.
