I am an Independent "Old School" Cellular expert in the industry 17 years, 14 with my own company. I have sold over 20,000 phones and do not work for ANY Service Provider; therefore, giving you the unbiased, blunt honest truth about this Industry. Technical training for Reps in this industry ended around 2000-2001. Therefore most reps selling this service, know little more than you do; but are the supposed "Experts" when you visit their store or kiosk. They only know what the company mandates they tell you, or risk being fired. They also only represent that Company's service, obviously negating an unbiased opinion. Gone are the Independent Dealers selling multiple services. These new Reps don't do repairs, they don’t Field Test phones, don’t know the differences in the various technologies, and they're only taught how to separate you from your money; pushing all the add-on products you don't need. An overwhelming segment of the market only want A Phone, to make A Phone call. For instance, more than half the Blackberry users I see, don’t use the features they're paying for; wasting $30++ per month for the added features they don't use.
