My Philosophy of Spiritual Directing
We are almost never alone with our spirit in quiet contemplation. The Divine shouts out to us and we are too surrounded by the wild winds to hear. Cultivating the spirit is quiet . It is learning the art of contemplation and of soul-felt prayer. It is learning to internalize the sacred writings. It is learning the art of listening in silence.
These ways of spiritual growth have been practiced since the earliest times. Christ often went out alone, often at night, to pray. As the spirit is strengthened by these spiritual exercises, the yearning of the spirit subsides and the lessons learned affect the body and mind. We live out of the spirit. The light of the Divine within increases and more brightly illuminates our path of life . We start to build upon rock and not drifting sands .
When faced with challenges, we are equipt to pause - to re-focus - ro draw upon the Spirit for strength. We can engage a dialog with the Spirit - listening more than talking. Our spirit has learned. And using the whole of our being - body, mind and spirit - we can climb up and over the obstacle and learn its lesson.
Each spirit is a unique gift from the Creator. To mature that spirit in the spiritual life is not a cookie-cutter process. Let's find the path that fits and strengthens you.

Experience & Qualifications

|
I am a certified spiritual director. This means that I have successfully completed an intensive program of study in scriptures, the works of great People of God throughout history, and in the methods of prayer, discernment and growth. My grounding is based on Christian principles and my training included studies in world belief systems: Judaism, Islamic, Hinduism and Buddhism, and in Native American spirituality.
I have also conducted workshops in recapturing the Biblical art of Dream Interepretation. Even in sleep the Divine Spirit comforts, instructs and guides us.
I am not a psychic or a fortune teller. The dreamwork I do is based upon the work of Carl Jung, who said "Bidden or not, God is present." (see my listing under "Dream Analysis")
