Experience & Qualifications

I have extensive experience on two types of automated insulated lines. Lisec and Lenhart. I was responsible for the organization and output requirements for this equipment, including the quality control aspects of the insulated units. As the overseer of these areas, desiccant control, edge deletion procedures of the Low E products, spacer material, and sealant, all fell under my control. I understand the functionality and maintenance required for all the equipment involved in the insulating process, such as the Galco pumps and sealing guns. I have also manufactured muntin bar units in high volume and I am well versed in all aspects of this product and procedure as well. This includes the manual sealing and manufacturing of insulated sunbursts, rectangles, circles, and arches. I am also trained on the Heat Mirror insulated product by Southwall and all aspects of the preparation of the production of this product.
My purchasing background has covered the buying and negotiating of contracts with the manufacturers of the metal spacers, clips, muntin bars, sealant, and desiccant. This included contact with suppliers such as Allmetal, Hygrade, Courtalds Aerospace, Molsiv Absorbents, and GE, to name a few.
I also have vast experience in the scheduling and optimization of products for all cutting aspects of the plants I have managed. My glass cutting experience ranges from the knowledge and personal ability of cutting glass thickness’ from ¾” to SSB. with these products being either hand cut or automatically CNC cut. I possess very good hand cutting skills and feel I my knowledge with computerized DNC Cutting equipment (Billco RH100, Billco CNC2000, Bystronic XYZ 80, manual Bystronic block cutter, and software such as the Billco Optimate Program and the XOPT Optimizing Program) is extensive. I have recently acquired even more knowledge with equipment from Bottero and Hegla, both, which are very similar. I am well taught on the maintenance and upkeep required, to manufacture the best possible quality, and volume, from all types of automated cutting equipment.
My tempering experience covers many years, and types of tempering furnaces, along with extensive knowledge and understanding of the tempering principles. With this knowledge, I was able to excel in the area of tempering and have been taught to operate the following tempering furnaces; (Tempco 34 X 80), (Tempco 48 X 80), (Hordis 86 X 180), (GlassTech 84 X 160 semi-continuous), (GlassTech 86 X 180 oscillating),( GlassTech 60" continuous), (GlassTech 48" continuous), (Tamglass 84 x 130), (HHH 100 x 168) and all support equipment. Support equipment covers GlassLine parallel grinders, polishing machines (Zanetti FP6 beveller, ADA vertical & horizontal edgers, Billco horizontal grinder), TAC Automatic Drills, GlassLine drills, manual cross belt seamers, Zanetti Bismatic II Shape edger, Schiatti 15 Spindle Flat polisher, etc.
I have been able to improve tempering output in almost every situation to establish consistent yields over 95 %. My ability to change the furnace setups to meet production needs, has consistently resulted in a positive results. Energy savings and costs reduction through proper furnace maintenance and setup have saved thousands of dollars a year for all the furnaces with which I have been associated.
I have also supervised an Airco 86 x 144, 15-cathode sputter coater and an Airco 100 x 144, 15-cathode sputter coater and have been responsible for all maintenance issues for this equipment. I understand all the quality control aspects that go along with the finished product and all support equipment to produce commercial glazing quality, such as the washing machines and detergents used during the preparation stage. I am also proficient in understanding and using the instrumentation to analyze color data, such as color spectrophotometers.
