Increasingly, new privacy standards and regulations are requiring website operators to provide consumers with greater notice, information and choice regarding cookies and similar tracking technologies.  In particular, the European Union has adopted a privacy directive regarding the use of website visitor tracking and cookies, and each EU member state has or will interpret and implement this directive over time.  

To help businesses easily notify their visitors of their website’s use of cookies without imposing an additional burden on their IT resources, LivePerson has created a free add-on to LP Marketer called the EU Cookie Application.

The application can dynamically provide country-specific and browser-specific links to instructions for easily disabling cookies or clearly outlying privacy policies.

While the EU Cookie App is by no means a substitute for compliance, it can be a very effective tool for websites to notify their visitors of their use of cookies, with minimal IT involvement.
