Prof. De Mel is engaged in Clinical and Forensic Psychology practice with children, adolescents, families, couples, groups, adults, incarcerated mentally disordered offenders, bicultural/biracial, Asian Americans. Ages 6 years through 75 years. Psychological testing/reports and psychotherapy (from simple questions to long term therapy). Psychodiagnostics(testing) for: depression, anger, predictions, school age related questions and placement, pain and suffering, prison evaluations, court evaluations, such as competency to stand trial, etc.

Prof. De Mel is an expert on detection / identification of criminal behavior and hate ideology. His research interests include the social and environmental factors in criminal behavior.
He is a pioneer in the area of developing Computer-based Psychometric Test Instruments incorporating adaptive questioning techniques with built-in lie-scales. Currently he is engaged in research and development of hate ideology detection, criminal investigation, and personnel screening by utilization of computerized, state-of-the-art Psycho-physiological detection instruments.
