I have a Master's Degree in Hebrew Bible and World Religions. I was working on my PhD in Hebrew Studies when I realised that academia was not for me (completed all my coursework, but decided the torture involved in writing a dissertation was too much!) and decided to become a "free-lance rabbi" instead.

Experience & Qualifications

|
I have been studying Torah for 25 years, Talmud for 12 years and Mysticism for 6+ years. I can answer questions about the religion of Judaism as well as provide spiritual guidance and life coaching from a Reform perspective. I have a very liberal view in my own personal practice, but have studied with Orthodox and Reconstructionist Rabbis and Professors, so am able to answer what they basically believe as well. I have worked as a youth minister, chaplain and as a general Rabbi (Teacher/Prayer Leader) for ~10 years. I feel that while organised religion and religious communities/synagogues holds meaning for many people, they are in some ways exclusionist and sectarian. I want to take my knowlege and gifts to those who: feel they are outside the traditional Jewish community, are curious about the Jewish faith but don't know who to ask about it, or those who through past experience have had bad experiences in thier faith and have left it to find their own path. If you are struggling with your faith or have questions, I can help. If you are curious about what Judaism has to offer, I can help. If you are GLBT and feel excluded, but still called to a life in Judaism, I can help. If you want to know what Jewish Mysticism REALLY teaches, I can help you.
