I am a "Board Certified Tarot Interpreter" which means I have passed a standardized exam given by the Berkeley Board of Tarot Arts and Sciences requiring me to understand both the common meanings of the individual cards as well as how to provide complex readings by combining multiple cards into spreads. Personally, I do not believe in the value of certifications beyond this point as the reading of the Tarot is a very intuitive, artistic process that is not easily measured or evaluated beyond answering this one question: "Do clients regularly report that your readings provide them a useful service?" If the answer is "yes," you fulfill the most important qualification available.

My Expert Service

Using the imagery of the Tarot, I provide answers to specific questions (e.g., is my husband having an affair) as well as guidance in larger life issues (e.g., tell me about my current career path and future opportunities to expect). Clients can choose general three card spreads for quick answers to simple questions, or we can explore complex issues using large multi-card spreads I have developed to deeply explore specific life issues. For example, I offer a custom "Relationship Mirror" spread which not only assesses the current health and stability of your love relationship, but also gives you additional perspectives such as "how does my partner view the relationship, and how does this differ from the way I view it." Using a quick interview, I can find the best solution for your specfic needs.
One unique service that I offer is that I will send you via EMAIL a photo summary of the actual spread done for you during our reading so that you can enjoy the imagery of the cards, continue with your own interpretive work with them, and keep a record of our work together over time. This also is a guarantee for all clients that they are truly receiving their own specific reading combined with my insights that are unique to their situation.

I am a 34 year old gay male originally from the Deep South. I now live here in Oakland, California
with my two Chihuahuas in a modest home overlooking the cities by the Bay. I offer readings as time permits in this safe, relaxing environment either in person or by technology connections. Though I work full time as a software engineer
in the banking industry, I have had a love of the Tarot since I got my first deck of cards in the 4th grade. Interestingly
enough, that is the same year I got my first computer, and the
two sides of my psyche (the practical and the
spiritual) have always run in parallel that way. Some people
think it is odd that a person with advanced degrees in science
would also be so interested in something as unscientific as the
Tarot, but I think it makes me especially well equipped to help
even the most skeptical of querents. Hence, I am the Practical Tarot Reader.
How did I become a Tarot Reader?
My grandmother learned to read the Tarot by studying with her family's housekeeper, a colorful and boisterous
African American woman named Dulcie from New Orleans who saw them as a way to communicate directly with the "loa," or spirit gods of Voodoo. Eventually my grandmother begain offering
informal readings to her friends as part of their weekly tea gatherings where they would play cards and croquet in the back garden. While staying the summer with her when
I was nine, I was intently observing her give a reading to a woman whose husband had been killed in Vietnam and whose kids were having difficulty adjusting to life without him. The woman drew the Five of Cups, which shows a cloaked figure grieving
in front of three fallen cups by a river. My grandmother told the woman this represented her grief at the loss of her husband, and it was to be expected. Before I could stop myself,
I blurted out, "But what about the two cups that are still standing behind the man?" My grandmother tried to get me to be quiet, but I said "Grandma, you told me I was supposed to say it!"
Looking completely puzzled, she asked me what I was talking about. I reminded her about the day we were in church and a man suddenly stood up and began speaking in tongues. When another man
stood up and started translating, I had asked her how he knew he was supposed to do that. She had told me that when the spirit moves you, you know it, and you are supposed to blurt out what it tells
you -- even if you are sitting in church when it happens! As Dulcie and the other women at the gathering looked on, I told the woman at the table that her children were the cups still standing behind her,
and they needed her care more than her dead husband needed her grief. They were not having issues with her husband's death so much as they were having issues with the disappearance of their mother's spirit. The woman started to cry, and she said she could see it clearly.
When I left at the end of the summer, Dulcie gave me my first Tarot deck and told me she had faith I would use the cards to help people someday.

WOW, really the best tarot reader on Kasamba, and I've tried a lot of them. He is very gifted, intelligent, and accurate in his readings. I felt that he brought everything to the surface that was hidden and gave good instruction and advice from the cards. Thanks so much and look forward to talking again!
