I can help children and adults who struggle with reading and writing. Specifically, I can provide students with useful tips and methods for reading and writing more effectively. I can consult with parents about services/programs most appropriate for their struggling child. I can consult with teachers who are working with struggling readers and writers.
I also have extensive experience examining the relationship between literacy and technology. I can help children and adults hone their literacy skills to be more effective readers and writers of digital text. Additionally, I can help teachers think about how to infuse technology into their classroom curriculum.

Experience & Qualifications

I started my career as an elementary school teacher, teaching second and fifth graders. I earned my certification as a reading specialist and tutored struggling readers and writers for many years. I furthered my career and knowledge by earning a PHD in Reading Education. I have experience teaching undergraduate preservice teachers how to teach their students to read and write and teaching graduate students who are preparing to be reading specialists. I also study and research the relationship between literacy and technology. I conduct professional development for teachers focusing on how to integrate technology into the classroom curriculum.
