I can help with small or large problems you might be having with Java development, whether that be on the server or the client. I can give advice on the best technology to use for a job. I can also help with problems in other languages such as Python, C and Intel x86 assembly language - although my strongest experience is in Java.
I will also do Open Source/Free Software contract programming (or website development) using Java and/or other languages. Please see www.opensource.org to read about the many advantages of the Open Source approach, which apply to both businesses and individuals. I try to focus on the user/client and make sure at each milestone that I'm doing what the user/client really needs, not just what I *think* they need.

Experience & Qualifications
|
I have studied for 2 years as a PhD student in Computer Science (where I learned a lot about OOP/AOP, parsing, and OO databases), and I have also worked for a database company in the oil industry, as a web developer using XML and Cocoon, and as project maintainer of the stable version of the Apache Cocoon project (see xml.apache.org).
As well as a strong top-to-bottom knowledge of the Java programming language (including the latest advanced features in Java 1.5) and the most important parts of the Java platform, I'm particularly familiar with the following technologies: Servlets, XML, JAXP, SAX, DOM, Swing, AWT, AspectJ, YAML, Ant, ANTLR, Eclipse, and GNU Arch (aka tla). I'm a fast learner and can pick up new technologies and programming languages very quickly.
