I am a freelance writer and novelist with 15 years experience. I am also a licensed substitute teacher in Nevada and have 12 years experience as a home schooling mom. As the mother of a high-school age son who has autism, I love working with kids who have special needs. I have extensive training in advocating for kids with disabilities. I am passionate about literacy and love to help kids love to read.

I worked as a staff writer at the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun newspapers from 1999 to 2001. in 1998, I was a reporter and editor at a rural Nevada bi-weekly. I have ten years experience working as a business consultant, writing press releases, business plans and other copy for my clients. I have two published novels and have experience critiquing and editing for other authors. I hold a Nevada substitute teaching license, and have taught in all grade levels and subject areas since 2006. I have completed a 1 year course in advocating for people with disabilities, as well as courses in cognitive behavioral therapy and special education. My undergraduate degree is in writing, and included upper level courses in literacy. I am able to answer questions regarding language arts, English, literature and writing. I am a licensed drug and alcohol counselor with three years training at Great Basin College toward a degree in social work, which included many upper level courses in sociology and psychology, and can provide help in these areas as well. I have home schooled my own children for twelve years, and volunteer as a home school advocate in my city. I can provide information and support to parents putting together a home school program or considering home schooling or unschooling for their children.
