PROJECTS
Electronics Projects Undertaken:
Title: Design and Implementation of Wi-Fi based handsets for communication in a
BSS.
Description: The project involved Wifi based wireless communication between
numerous PDAs and a computer server. The PDAs communicated to the server using
TCP sockets. The TCP/IP stack for communication was implemented in the Rabbit 4000. processor. The Wmac Stack for Wifi communication was inbuilt in an FPGA which was
interfaced with the Rabbit Processor. The PDAs had an LCD and a keypad for message
transmission and reception.
Title: Design of Zigbee protocol based switches and lights for home lighting.
Description: This project aimed at making all the switches and lights in a house wireless.
The Light ON/OFF control was carried out wirelessly by the switches using the Zigbee
protocol. The switches and lights were connected with zigbee nodes for communication.
The zigbee nodes were implemented using the Microchip 18F4620 microcontroller which
was equipped with the Zigbee protocol stack.
Title: Implementation of Zigbee based PDAs for customer ordering Information in
a restaurant.
Description: This project involves Zigbee based wireless communication between PDAs
and a central server in a restaurant. Each table in the restaurant will be equipped with
a PDA. The customers will be able to view the details of all the food items available in
the graphical LCD in the PDA. They will be able to use the PDAs to place their order
accordingly. The order will transmitted to a PC in the restaurant which in turn will
transmit the order to the restaurant kitchen. The customers will be continuously updated
about the status of their order and the billing information wirelessly by the PC.
Current Project:
Title: Implementation of USB drivers and programming the USB protocol stack for
controlling a LASER cutting machine.
Description: This project involves use of an 8 bit and a 32 bit microcontroller. The
controller provides the user end interface. The controller communicates with an FPGA
and sends the control signals entered by the user to an FPGA. The FPGA in turn controls
the laser cutting machine.
