My Expert Service

Experience in full life cycle development of VB6 and .Net database applications. I have done several VB6 to .Net ports. Created many custom controls and classes using OO principles. Developed .Net HMIs to interface to PLCs using TCP and Modbus protocols. And developed interactive applications using .Net remoting technology

Experience & Qualifications

2007 – 2010 Lextron Inc. Greeley, CO Controls Developer / Software Engineer Redesigned the batcher HMI using VB.Net to allow a wide variety of customer customizations using drag and drop technologies without having to write custom code for each customer. The redesign decreased the deployment time from weeks to days. Designed and developed several diagnostic and remote debugging tools using C# in order to provide a fast response and fix time to customer issues. Ported existing VB 6.0 GUI into VB.Net incorporating some of the controls that I had developed in C# for other applications. Porting to the new Visual Studio platform simplified code management and the improvements satisfied demands from customers and sales people. Modified a VB.Net mill monitoring software to use multi-threading in order to accommodate the data intensive requirements of the customer that were bogging the HMI down and making it appear unresponsive. Modularized each of the VB.Net HMI packages to allow them to interact with various hardware solutions which aided in stabilizing the HMI code and giving the system designers more flexibility is selecting hardware solutions. Wrote simulation software in VB.Net and Ladder for most of the products in the division to improve the quality and reliability of unit testing as well as giving the sales people a simple way to demonstrate our products without the hardware. Participated in every stage of the SDLC (software/systems development life cycle) for most of the divisions systems ensuring consistency throughout our product line. 1998 – 2007 AMD Longmont, CO Developed a VB 6.0 program to manage automation of the test lab and act as a front end to the test database. This application also communicates with the various test machines on the network resulting in our small team being able to perform more testing and capture enough data to quickly recreate failures and reducing the overall time to debug and fix. Developed DOS based tools in C/C++ and X86 Assembly to test and configure hardware to simplify to the jobs of other engineers. Ported the VB 6.0 lab automation software to VB.Net in order to interface with developing technologies to keep things running smoothly. Added a logic analyzer module to a Win32 app using Visual C++. Worked as part of a team converting my VB .Net database and automation software to web applications using PHP to make data collected from the test labs more accessible throughout the company.
