If you want a question answered about wine or other fine beverages (beer & spirits) or are looking for someone to consult and/or educate your staff about your restaurant's wine list I am your guy. After working as chef for 8 years and a casino bartender for 3 years I entered the wine trade by conducting home & office wine tastings 3-5 per day, 6 days per week. After a couple of years, (when that company went out of business) I was recommended as a private consultant to inherit a client list of over 1,100 private cellars from 500 to 7,000+ bottles with individual values exceeding $10 million. Eight years later I opened a fine wine/beer and deli called Urban Gourmet which I successfully ran for almost 10 years. During that time I also formed a partnership with a winemaker and friend to found Tesoro Wine Co. making Syrah and Viognier from the famed Fralich Vineyard in the Templeton Gap on the Central Coast of California. I wrote a weekly wine column for more than 7 years, have done live call-in television as well as recorded TV shows, a radio show for more than 2 years and a long format, magazine article for the last year. I am also an oft requested live speaker due to my captivating, interactive style and my ability to speak for an hour or more with no advance warning of the request. While I will pit my depth of knowledge against anyone, it is the style of presentation that has garnered the length of my educational career. I present in a manner that is both interesting to those that do not care about the subject and still hold the attention of even the most expert listener.

Experience & Qualifications

Tasted more than 100,000 wines with impeccable palate memory. Regularly identify variety, region, and vintage (often the winery too) of double blind, tasted wines. Published for more than 10 years. I have made home brews of all styles except lager and made wine at home as well as in winery.
