My Expert Service
I'm a Ph.D. candidate in clinical psychology, which means I'll have my doctorate within about 6 months. It also means I've had almost 4 years of experience with patients, and have the benefit of learning the most current and effective treatments. Psychologists are trained in all areas of mental health, including diagnosis, psychotherapy and other treatments, medications and psychological testing. My specialty is geriatrics; I really enjoy working with older people, and I've made an effort to learn as much as possible about their needs. I've worked hard to become an expert on Alzheimer's disease, its diagnosis and treatment. I have recently begun running a group for Alzheimer's caregivers, and am currently conducting research in a new memory training technique for these patients. I am also doing in-depth work in grieving and grief therapy. I am experienced in both diagnosing and treating a range of mood and anxiety disorders, including depression, insomnia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, generalized anxiety and panic disorder. I have also touched upon stress and pain management. I work closely with psychiatrists in a primary care clinic and have a working knowledge of all of the current psychiatric medications, their uses and side effects. I have a great deal of experience in psychological testing, intelligence (Wechsler) and personality measures (Rorschach & MMPI-2 to name a couple).

Experience & Qualifications
I am currently working in a primary care clinic, doing primarily assisting physicians with diagnosis of mental disorders, as well as doing therapy. I'm also running two groups, one for Alzheimer's caregivers, the other for grief issues. I have had previous experience in working in neuropsychology (which is the use of psychological testing in diagnosing brain dysfunction), in the psychiatric emergency room and at a state psychiatric hospital. I have seen and treated a wide range of psychiatric disorders across these settings. I am a former education director and volunteer coordinator for a rape crisis center. I've also worked in education and development for a large medical school, which involved a great deal of internet research.
