Experience & Qualifications
|
|
Wanda Thibodeaux is originally from Caseville, Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance (coloratura soprano, classical emphasis) and a Bachelor of Science in oboe performance.
Thibodeaux sang for two full years as a member of the choir at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Mt. Pleasant, MI and thus is very familiar with church performance. She also has sung in many other choirs, including the Central Michigan University chamber singers, concert choir, festival chorus, and womens’ chorus; currently she is an active member of the Eagan Women of Note and the Oratorio Society of Minnesota. She has sung everything from Bach to Rachmoninoff and is especially comfortable with oratorios. Her solo repetoire includes pieces such as The Shepherd on the Rock, O Had I Jubal's Lyre, Pippa's Song, and Ah, Non Giunge.
In terms of the oboe, Thibodeaux has performed as a member of the Central Michigan University orchestra, wind ensemble, wind symphony, the Frosted Trio, and the Evensong Quintet. She has performed as a soloist in woodwind area recitals, as well. She has played works such Symphonic Metamorphosis, Wagner overtures, Beethoven’s Pastorale symphony, Carmina Burana, and the Vivaldi Gloria.
Thibodeaux's musical interests do not stop at performing vocally and as an oboist. She also is an active composer who has created works for all combinations. These works have been premiered in multiple venues and have met with positive receptions from audiences. She is always looking for performance venues for these pieces and for groups who are willing to perform them, so she welcomes interested parties who wish to contact her about her work. Additionally, Thibodeaux has a strong pull toward ethnomusicology--she is particularly interested in Russian choral music.
