Mobile Strategies You Won’t Want to Miss
It seems that everyone is talking about the explosion of mobile commerce. From cool mobile infographics to weighty research articles and case studies, there’s no shortage of data pointing to a simple fact: brands who want to be competitive need to have a mobile strategy.
Need more convincing? Take a look at recent statistics from this recent Deloitte Study -- mobile enhanced sites and applications aren’t just important for online purchases, but they also carry an important influence for brick and mortar commerce:
Smartphones currently influence 5.1 percent of annual retail store sales, translating into $159 billion in forecasted sales for 2012
48% of smartphone owners surveyed say their phones have influenced their decision to purchase an item in a store, and the study shows that consumers’ smartphone use tends to be highest at or near the point of purchase.
Also from the same study, “Retailers that do not engage shoppers through specialized mobile applications or targeted smartphone-based promotions leave the door open for competitors to reach a customer who is standing in the retailer’s store and at the point of purchase,” said Kasey Lobaugh, principal and direct-to-consumer and multichannel leader, Deloitte Consulting LLP.
So now that it’s clear that a mobile strategy is no longer optional, especially to cater to the masses of iOS and Android users, the problem many retailers face is how to quickly deploy an effective and sleek mobile solution.
In our next Did You Know? webinar series, I’ll be hosting a segment where we will demo a plug-and-go mobile solution that requires minimal development-- in about two weeks you could have a complete mobile strategy in place for your native iOS application or m. (mobile optimized) websites. I look forward to sharing with you this exciting feature and will be happy to answer any questions you have on this topic.
