GlossaryAgentic AI

Agentic AI is a branch of artificial intelligence capable of acting independently to pursue goals with minimal human oversight. Agentic AI systems can plan, reason, and make decisions to achieve specific outcomes, often coordinating multiple specialized agents to solve complex tasks. At LivePerson, an AI agent is considered agentic when it:

• Has a goal that requires planning and involves situations where the next step isn’t obvious.

• Possesses a set of choices (tools or actions) that enable novel interactions with its environment.

• Uses a reasoning mechanism to select the best course of action.

• Understands whether it has successfully achieved its assigned goal.
